Once upon the night of Harvestide, while Max pondered, sitting on his bedside,
Over many a magical and mysterious volume of ancient and arcane lore,
While he nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As if someone gently rapping, rapping at his rented chamber door.
"Tis some drunkard," Max muttered, "tapping at my chamber door-
Only this, and nothing more."
Ah, but Yu is such a bore, therefore Max opened the door,
And as Councilman Daniel Lohner made his way across the floor,
Eagerly Max wished the morrow;- he had no time for this man's sorrow,
Dan then told then the Old Man of his sorrow- sorrow for his lost Jenore-
For she whom he took as mistress, that he had loved as none before-
Missing from Starpoint evermore.
Lohner sought knowledge of her fate, he hoped it wasn't too late,
But as he described the features of the one he loved and adored,
Max wished Dan had chosen another;- who he described could be no other,
But the Banite mage who ended her life on the bottom of the shitter floor!
Max could not bring himself to tell Daniel the fate of this whore-
Lost from this world forevermore.
Knowing he could not destroy this heart, Max had a lie to start,
To tell the Councilman he knew nothing, had never seen this woman before!
Washing over Dan was a wave of relief, as he was left to cling to belief,
Belief that he may as yet be reunited with she whom he loves to the core,
So that they may some day leave Starpoint as if it were the days of yore,
And live happily together evermore!
But enough dreams of wedding cake, there were greater issues at stake,
And so he began to tell Max of the evil come to Seadale, not seen before,
The disturbing way that people would act, that he felt this was a fact,
Something was afoot in Seadale, to seek and destroy this evil he did implore,
To find the source of the Banite's appearance, and strike down at its core,
So Seadale would be safe forevermore!
Max vowed to heed the man's warning, that he would depart in the morning,
To seek out the truth of these claims, and uncover the mask that it wore,
He showed the Councilman his way out, before the man could begin to pout,
Max would leave in the morning, he'd gather the party and head up north,
To seek out Close One Milligan, so that his assistance he could implore,
Wishing to see Banites nevermore!
At the break of dawn they did depart, the earlier the better that they start,
To find the Chauntean Priest, and relay what the Councilman did outpour,
His feelings of the region, to see if Milligan could help with his religion,
The Close One had just returned, had been purchasing supplies at the store,
He heard their tales and concerns, then held his hand to tell them no more,
He would help, or worship no more!
As Milligan explained to the group his thoughts on the region's emotional coup,
Our Heroes began to understand that they've seen nothing like this before,
And as the Close One took everything in, he learned the sad fate of the Paladin,
This news was barely surprising, as he had been left a letter some time before,
Upon reading the wishes for the lost, they felt sorrow as it opened the door,
Striking grief to their very core!
Our adventurers left there soon after, marching back to Seadale without laughter,
They realized a tough road lay ahead of them, with possibility of injury and more,
But they continued on to Seadale to train, for they'd need new skills in their brain,
If our party expected to overcome the evil, and live for new places to explore,
They had to make themselves tough and righteous, determined and pure to the core,
So Seadale would see evil nevermore!
